Budapest city poster with memorial for 1956
Budapest, and thus Hungary, hides many violent historical events. One of the most violent took place on 25 October 1956, when the population revolted against the Soviet occupying forces, who responded again with an attack in which they shot and killed many Hungarian civilians in the square in front of the Parliament, in Budapest.
Naturally, a number of memorials have subsequently been erected on and around Parliament Square. One of them is a beautiful water sculpture that alternately stands with a perfect water mirror and wave movements.
