His furniture design, fabrics, stained glass windows, and other decorative arts inspired the Arts and Crafts movement, which defined popular taste from that era. William Morris (1834-96) as an artist

He was known as a bit of a multi-artist, who didn't just sit and design beautiful patterns and graphics for textiles and wallpaper. He also wrote poetry, and amidst all of his artistic endeavors, he also found time to be a socialist activist. He even founded the Arts and Crafts design movement.

When you look at his art, there's no doubt that nature was a major source of inspiration in his designs and everything else he did. From his childhood in Essex, to his time studying as an architecture student, to when he ended up as director of Morris & Company, which produced and sold wallpaper and fabrics in the famous store on Oxford Street in London.
