In almost every forest there is this collection of tall pine trees. they rise 10-15 meters, and are completely branched down towards the forest floor. It gives this dark, a bit mysterious experience, which is at once both exciting and a bit creepy. You can probably recognize the picture on this nature poster from the forest Ganløse Ore.

Some of the forest trees change appearance several times a year, in step with the seasons. The book is one of them. Other trees could be more indifferent to the changing seasons. These are, for example, the pine trees.
Almost all forests in Denmark have an area with pine trees that are planted in symmetrical rows, and which have been allowed to stand and grow very tall. They are always branched on most of their trunks, and their crowns form a dense roof that excludes the sun from the forest floor. This is how they stand year in and year out, shading the sun.
