One of the most iconic buildings in New York is the Guggenheim Museum on 5th avenue, just across from Central Park. A must if you are visiting Manhattan and are just the least bit interested in art or architecture.

The full name is Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, but in everyday speech just called Guggenheim. By American standards, it is not a large building, but the iconic rotunda, and the fact that the building was designed by the world-famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright, has made it famous far beyond art circles.
When we were in New York in 2016, we missed the chance to see the museum when we arrived on a Thursday, which was their closing day. It turned into a round of pictures taken from the outside and a long nose.
By the time we were back in 2016, we had therefore prepared better and arrived on a Tuesday. It turned out that an exhibition was being set up in the rotunda, so it was cordoned off. However, we were allowed to come inside so we could enjoy the beautiful building, and get some more pictures taken.
