People

Most pictures happen when someone forgets you’re standing there.

A glance, a gesture, that breath of a moment where no one plays a part. We call it people, but it might just as well be time holding its breath.

There are no instructions. No plan. Only the light, the movement, and the camera trying to keep up. Aperture, shutter speed, ISO – the technical side forever chasing the living. The best shots are the ones that almost fail.

Agnete - Pause

After a long studio session of styling and outfit changes, silence arrives.
The light fades, and the camera is forgotten.
One click later – the day’s best photograph.

Portrait photography is rarely about light and technique.
It’s about that moment when someone forgets you’re there.
This picture isn’t for sale. It was just a pause.

Young man jumping and doing a heel click in the air – photograph taken in Oslo, 2020 | PLAKATfar

Ludwig Heel Click - Oslo, 2020

Sun, shadows, and a playful young man mid-air.
He masters the heel click – high, precise, and without an audience.
Not because there’s a camera, but because it’s fun.
I press the shutter. He lands.
We both hit the mark.

The photo was taken on the roof of the Oslo Opera House – where light is always part of the act.

Woman surprised by something on her phone – photograph taken in New York, 2014 | PLAKATfar

Subway Surprise - New York, 2014

When intuition whispers that something’s about to happen.
The cap comes off – quietly, not to disturb.
We sit close. Finger on the shutter.
A second’s wait, and the moment arrives.
This time, it paid off.

The photograph was taken in the New York subway, in that split second when everything aligns. It has been exhibited in Amsterdam and is part of the series Our life through the lens.

Camera: Fuji X-E2 Lens: XF27mm f/2.8 Shutter: 1/18 sec at f/3.2 ISO: 800
